LOVERS, JUST ONCEI've pictured it in my mind many times since I met youI might as well say it-- I've imagined you and I as lovers. At least one time, anyway. It would last me a lifetime. It's pleasant to imagine you and I as lovers Just one time. Some flickering spark in your eyes Tells me you've thought it, too. If I could just kiss you once, and feel Your arms about my neck, If we could connect Just one time. . . I'll make no demands. No kiss and tell. No jealousy. No fatal attractions. No strings or conditions. I promise discretion. It has nothing to do with conquest, Only need . . . Only one time. I melted when I first saw you. I don't think you know how pretty you are. Or how your bewitching eyes, And seductive form affect me. Your attention flatters me. My heart flutters when you Read my poetry. Just one time. Only once. © Rickey Pittman, 2000.
